Mind the achievement gap.

Posted on March 21st, 2007 by The SUBWAYblogger in Live Blogging On the Subway

Have you seen these signs? “Mind the achievement gap.”. They are all over the subway as part of a NYC Teaching Fellows program.

It’s funny though. Look around you next time you see one of those signs. Does anyone on the train scream “achievement” to you?

We are all just dreaming of the day we can afford a driver to take us to and from work. In the mean time, we’re all just looking miserable as we ride the train.

Here’s another one. “There are a million kids in NYC who could use your tallents. Think outside the cubicle.”

Yes, think outside your cubicle. Think about how you could be in a Bronx High School making far less money. At least there’s snow days.

Live from the subway, back to you in studio…

I disagree. I know plenty of people who definitely could afford to take cabs or be driven to work who still take the subway. It’s environmentally sound, and it’s often quicker than taking our crammed surface roads. Just because people look like they’re in that “subway zone” doesn’t mean they’re miserable about it.

Well, “zone” or not, it’s still a pretty miserable look.

My point was when I looked around the train, based on looks alone I didn’t see any “teacher” looking people.

Also, don’t forget that I include myself in the that group.

So is the “TALENT” misspelling yours or theirs, because if it is theirs then that is pretty funny!

Thanks for your concepts. One thing really noticed is the fact banks along with financial institutions know the dimensions and spending patterns of consumers and also understand that the majority of people max out their credit cards around the holiday seasons. They correctly take advantage of this fact and then start flooding a person’s inbox along with snail-mail box together with hundreds of no-interest APR credit cards offers just after the holiday season comes to an end. Knowing that when you are like 98% of all American open public, you’ll leap at the chance to consolidate credit debt and shift balances for 0 interest rate credit cards.

Thanks for the write-up. I have usually observed that a lot of people are wanting to lose weight because they wish to show up slim along with attractive. Even so, they do not usually realize that there are additional benefits to losing weight as well. Doctors say that fat people experience a variety of health conditions that can be directly attributed to the excess weight. The good thing is that people that are overweight and also suffering from a variety of diseases can help to eliminate the severity of their illnesses simply by losing weight. You are able to see a progressive but noticeable improvement with health when even a slight amount of losing weight is realized.

I have learned result-oriented things from your blog post. One other thing to I have recognized is that normally, FSBO sellers will certainly reject anyone. Remember, they will prefer to not ever use your companies. But if a person maintain a gradual, professional romance, offering assistance and being in contact for four to five weeks, you will usually have the capacity to win a conversation. From there, a listing follows. Cheers

I have learned several important things as a result of your post. I’d also like to convey that there will be a situation that you will obtain a loan and don’t need a cosigner such as a Federal government Student Aid Loan. But when you are getting credit through a classic financier then you need to be willing to have a co-signer ready to assist you. The lenders will probably base their very own decision over a few elements but the most significant will be your credit rating. There are some financial institutions that will in addition look at your work history and make a decision based on that but in many instances it will hinge on your credit score.

One more thing I would like to express is that in lieu of trying to fit all your online degree tutorials on days and nights that you finish off work (since most people are tired when they get back), try to receive most of your classes on the saturdays and sundays and only one or two courses in weekdays, even if it means taking some time off your saturday and sunday. This is fantastic because on the week-ends, you will be extra rested as well as concentrated upon school work. Thx for the different recommendations I have acquired from your blog site.

Thanks for your posting on the vacation industry. I’d personally also like contribute that if you’re a senior considering traveling, it truly is absolutely essential that you buy travel insurance for seniors. When traveling, older persons are at high risk being in need of a professional medical emergency. Obtaining the right insurance policy package for the age group can look after your health and provide you with peace of mind.

Thanks for your information on this blog. One particular thing I want to say is that often purchasing consumer electronics items in the Internet is not something new. In reality, in the past few years alone, the market for online gadgets has grown a great deal. Today, you’ll find practically virtually any electronic unit and gizmo on the Internet, including cameras and camcorders to computer parts and gaming consoles.

Thanks for your publiction. Another factor is that being photographer will involve not only issues in recording award-winning photographs but hardships in acquiring the best digicam suited to your needs and most especially situations in maintaining the grade of your camera. It is very accurate and apparent for those photography enthusiasts that are in capturing the particular nature’s exciting scenes – the mountains, the actual forests, the actual wild and the seas. Visiting these amazing places certainly requires a camera that can live up to the wild’s tough surroundings.

One thing is that one of the most popular incentives for applying your card is a cash-back or perhaps rebate supply. Generally, you get 1-5% back with various expenditures. Depending on the credit cards, you may get 1% back again on most purchases, and 5% back on expenses made going to convenience stores, gasoline stations, grocery stores plus ‘member merchants’.

Thanks for revealing your ideas. Another thing is that individuals have a selection between fed student loan as well as a private education loan where it really is easier to go for student loan online debt consolidation than through the federal student loan.
