Maybe I’m just not the kind of person muggers look for, but I find this story hard to believe. Violent subway crime does happen but it most frequently happens at a crazy hour somewhere far out in the system. I don’t think this guy would have been mugged for his Ipod given his demographic and the areas he would likely be riding the subway in. It seems like Apple really dropped the ball on this one. Maybe the last time the ad. executives at Apple rode the subway was in 1977.
ReplySo, it seems the muggers are making a comeback. Maybe all the real New Yorkers will return when the rents come down. I miss the old days.
ReplyBrook, there’s no other way to say this: You’re dumb.
ReplyOK Tom McManus, we get it - you lived here when New York City was a more dangerous place. We’re all very impressed
ReplyFish, Less expensive, still impressed?
ReplyTotally true. I worry about mine every day. Just don’t be stupid. But in all, well shot, and perfect spoof.
ReplyTodd, a guy who’s a nurse and not a doctor is a really dumb guy.
ReplyBrook, a person who watches what is obviously a spoof video and then makes the comment that “Apple really dropped the ball on this one” is really dumb.
ReplyTodd,
Do you simply not care about the reputation of the city you live in? Would you like to see the New Yorker’s who rely on tourist dollars to earn a living become worse off? I didn’t say the video wasn’t fiction. My point was meant imply that the Apple executives weren’t aware of the reality of the New York City subway system when the created this commercial. The commercial portrays New York in negative light regardless of whether or not it is non-fiction or fiction work. A creative work does not need to based on an actual event to cause injury.
ReplyBrook,
I’m more concerned that you personally are ruining the reputation of New York with your inane comments.

Brooke,
Apple executives had NOTHING to do with this spoof. It’s satire, a joke, an attempt at humor. Understand?
