Halloween Freakshow 2008
Well folks, we’ve survived (most of us) another Halloween in NYC. It never ceases to amaze me how seriously New Yorkers take Halloween.
Even if you didn’t make it down to the Village for the parade, you can still see the “interesting” costumes underground. The subway becomes it’s own parade all night long.
Most people take the subway downtown for two reasons: 1) it’s fast on a busy night like Halloween. 2) Seeing everyone else dressed up on the train is half the fun of the night.
Here’s just a very, very small sample of what you missed last night.
If you’ve got some interesting subway Halloween pictures, we’d love to see them. Post a link in the comments or send them to submit [(at)] subwayblogger.com.

Okay, Wonder Woman is frigging GORGEOUS.
Reply@Vinny: AGREED.
ReplyI love the gnome head.
ReplyWhat subway was the gnome head on?
ReplyI must get a gnome head like that for this Halloween. Where can I find it?
ReplyI am wondering what impact the recession will have on halloween costume sales this year.
ReplyCool pics. Look at the guys whos sitting next to the monsters facial expression! Classic! Regarding the post above…I dont think itll have a masiive impact to be honest…
ReplyHalloween is a very good chance to have another personality any way my Q: is
ReplyDoes Dracula have a reflection? To answer that question we need to know the answer to this question first what is the story behind Dracula?
Some people might think that Dracula is a real person some people don’t.
Naas , I agree! As a shy person I hate the thought of dressing up but if I put on a costume which requires makeup such as a vampire, then I can get into the character and really enjoy myself! I glass or tow of wine also helps of course. Roll on Halloween!
ReplyI must say people make the day more fun by coming out into the subway in their unique Halloween costumes. That is what fun is all about, sharing with others and having fun as you do it!
ReplyI do not think the “recession” will stop people celebrating Halloween as they have every single year in the past. I bet you see a lot of kids in Harry Potter, Star Wars and Star Trek costumes this year 2009.
ReplyThe choice of Halloween costumes available is mind blowing and when you look at your photographs from last year you just can’t wait to see what people come up with for this year! Halloween is a fantastic holiday so have a good time what ever your costume turns out to be!
ReplyGreat pictures, the bigger than life size Nome is my favorite, but the artificial laying next to the tracks definitely caused me to look twice.
ReplyThe hand by the sidewalk is gory and scary real spooky! Guys really have imagination!
ReplyThese are good pics and I hope this year the holiday will have even more unique and sensational costumes at the subway.
ReplyIt is so good to have a laugh and Halloween always gives us that opportunity whether you are going to a party or perhaps just checking out the costumes people are wearing on the subway again this year. What costume was the photographer wearing last year?
ReplyYa’ gotta have ciurage to walk down the dstreet and get on the subway in some of those outfits. What I read says that tv and movies character costumes will be powerful this year.
ReplyJust my $0.02
I would love to wear a custome like that Gnome for Halloween. It would make our otherwise dull Halloween party liven up a bit.
