Subway iPhone Game

Subway Shuffle iPhone AppHave you played Subway Shuffle for iPhone/iTouch?  It’s pretty damn addictive.

It’s sort of Rubik’s cube like.  Maybe not.  It’s sort of hard to describe, but I will try.

Basically, you have to move your “train” from one end of the puzzle board to the destination.  Along the way, you can only travel on your own line (color).  Meanwhile, there are other trains in front of you that must be moved out of the way for you to pass.

So on each board, it gets more and more tricky.  Eventually, you have to start thinking multiple moves ahead of time.  Read More »

Yankee Stadium Closing Breaks out Nostalgia Train

Tonight marks the closing of the “House that Ruth Built” up in the Bronx.  To help celebrate, the MTA rolled out the nostalgia train.

The four-car “Nostalgia Special” is scheduled to leave Grand Central-42nd Street at approximately 6 p.m., arriving at 161st Street-Yankee Stadium about 30 minutes later. The cars, originally operated by the Interborough Rapid Transit system, began service in 1917 and it is possible that at least one of them carried fans to the game on the first opening day. WCBS

In all likelihood, very few major Yankee fans took the nostalgia train to the game.  The stadium opened today at 3pm.  Fans were there insanely early today for the experience.  Getting to the stadium at around 6:40ish would probably be later than most fans wanted to be there.

Worst Tourists Award

Let’s just get right to it. Do the French tourists win this game? Is it even a contest? I think so.

In my book, the French tourists are the most obnoxious touristists in town. I can’t even think of another group that even comes close.

I say this as I stand near a group of French students who have essentially qtaken over the subway platform. Just their arrogant presence is enough to win them the crown for most obnoxious tourists.

Really, there’s no other group I can think of that comes close.

Asian tourists can be a little annoying, but overall, they are fine. Sure, when they travel in groups, the girls especially, the giddy volume level can get a little high. But it’s all very innocent.

Even southern tourists aren’t too bad. Annoying and a little slow, yes, but that can mostly be attributed to the inbreeding. So I don’t hold it against them.
